Top Media Publishing Conferences to Attend in the United States

When was the last time you attended a publishing conference? Or do you wonder if media publishing conferences and forums are something you should even attend?

Of course you should! Why? Because such events are where you can meet and mingle with your peers, discover the latest news on advertising, and learn about important new technologies that will help you manage and grow your publishing empire.

So which ones of the many held each year across the country should you attend? Here are just a few of the top media publishing conferences you seriously should consider attending next year, and be sure to stop by our booth at them for some sweet swag, and a friendly chat with one of our terrific Account Executives.

City Regional Magazine Association Annual Conference

CRMA is having two larger events next year (plus a handful of more intimate/focused roundtables), its Winter Publishers Retreat in February in Palm Springs, California, and its Annual Conference, May 30 – June 1, in Baltimore, Maryland. CRMA puts on great events and makes sure the discussions/forums are top-notch, as well as the off-conference events and tours of the host city. The MagHub team has been fortunate to be a member and sponsor of CRMA over the years, and we thoroughly enjoy visiting the various cities learning more about them through the publishers who actually live there! Where else do you get to do a Mardi Gras inspired parade in downtown New Orleans?

Super Niche Media Event

The 2020 conference will be held March 23-25, in San Antonio, Texas. If you publish a highly-targeted niche publication, this conference is for you. The two keynote speakers will talk about how niche startups are building “massive media brands,” as well as how to be a niche agent of change.

This event is well known for its fantastic parties (such as the Bacon Party at the 2018 event in Louisville, Kentucky), as well as for the chance niche publishers will have to meet others who are also are working to build highly targeted audiences. The team at Niche also do a great job coordinating various breakout events, such as Women in Publishing, CEO Summits, and more!

Media Growth Summit

The Media Growth Summit 20/20 (quite clever play on the summit’s title and the year it’s being held, in our opinion) will be held April 21 – 23 in Chicago, IL. The summit offers separate tracks for your publishing company’s executives, sales/marketing team members, your digital techs, and editorial professionals.

We were one of the sponsors of this summit for the first time this past May and enjoyed it so much, we’ve signed up as a sponsor for next year’s event! It’s a great event for B2B publishers who want to learn more about what’s happening in the industry, and what’s on the horizon.

Parenting Media Association’s Annual Conference

If you publish a parenting magazine, newsletter, etc. the Parenting Media Association’s Annual Conference is the place to be, February 27 – 29, 2020 in Saint Pete Beach, Florida. For us here in Michigan, going to Florida in February is a REAL treat and we always enjoy meeting and networking with participants. It also works out that a couple of our remote employees live in Florida and are only a hop, skip, jump away!

Alliance of Area Business Publication’s Annual Conference

The Alliance has two conferences coming up next year (similarly to CRMA, also a few breakouts/roundtables). The first is the Leadership Conference, to be held January 9-12, 2020 in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and then its Annual Conference will be held June 25-27, 2020 in Detroit, Michigan.

If you’re one of the hundreds of business media publishers across the country, you owe it to yourself to attend at least one of these two upcoming conferences. We attended the summer conference in Atlanta this past June and loved it so much we became one of the sponsors of the fall summit that [will be held/was held] in Chicago October 28-29. Plus we’re definitely not missing out on the Annual Conference in Detroit, after all it’s only 30 minutes away from the MagHub HQ! Which means any publishers that are visiting AABP, ask us during the conference for a tour of our offices and we’ll show you the inner-workings of MagHub.

The MagHub Fall Forum (of course!)

We’ve held this all-things-MagHub summit three years now here in Ann Arbor and Detroit and plan to do so again next year in September 2020, in Chicago Illinois! As in years past we’ll offer workshops on sales forecasting, project management, creating invoices, best practices for sales reps, vendor management strategies within MagHub, and more, plus lots of opportunities to network and have fun with other attendees.

Our list above doesn’t include all the great conferences available next year for media publishers, of course: we don’t have enough time to mention everyone; especially since we’ll be at them all!
