Much like our products; each member of our Aysling team has a unique feature or features that distinguishes themselves from everyone else. Today’s Aysling Team Spotlight is no different. Our early riser, video game guru, and genuinely one of the nicest people at our office is none other than our Software Engineer, Dan Thurston.
Now we’re not saying everyone at the office isn’t nice (we try to be); however, Dan is generally walking around assisting others, making coffee, fixing technical issues, and generally offering support whenever and wherever he can. So today, join us as we learn more about one of our Software Developers based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
What’s your name?
What is your job title at Aysling?
So, what does that mean you actually do?
I mostly work on developing our software products. I also help manage more technical aspects and custom functionality on the maghub.com and aysling.com websites. On occasion I help with some of our partner websites and client projects.
How long have you worked at Aysling?
What is your favorite thing about working at Aysling?
The working environment is very comfortable and casual. We have a smaller but efficient team where I get to work with almost everyone and could work on almost anything from the front-end look and feel to the data structure and back-end server processing.
What is/was your favorite magazine publication?
If you had to publish your own magazine, what would it be about?
What is the one piece of software you cannot live without?
What is your favorite season?
If you could live in any movie/television show, which one would it be? And why?
Black Panther, assuming I could live in Wakanda!
Board, Card, or Video Games?
Favorite type of sandwich?
Chipotle Cheese Steak
Interesting fact about yourself?
I have a passion for swimming and used to be a competitive swimmer. While attending Denison University I was a part of two national championships in 2011 and 2012. After college I coached swimming at Club Wolverine until I started working full time at Aysling. Bonus Fact: My wife Chandler and I had our first child, Quincy, on April 12th! 🙂
And finally, what is your favorite quote/lyric (movie, television show, song, or inspirational)?
“The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done… you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do.”
– Lil Wayne
